One of November’s biggest Xbox titles is of course Stalker 2, with its Game Pass release locked and loaded for next month following multiple delays in recent years. We just learned about GSC Game World’s performance targets for the game on Xbox, and now the team has confirmed that the console version will support mods.
Chatting with Radio Times Gaming, GSC’s technical producer Yevhenii Kulyk discussed Stalker 2 mods, and the series’ history with mod support. Kulyk went on to confirm that mods will come to Xbox Series X|S – and that mods both big and small will be supported by the team’s console toolkit.
“We are aware that our player base, especially the old ones, are waiting [to see] that our game will support mods as well. We’re bringing the mods to console, so they will be available on the Xbox as well as the PC.”
The interview went on to talk about the size and scale of Stalker 2’s console mod support, and it’s sounding like there’ll be lots of options for players on Xbox. Kulyk says that “we are basically creating and preparing a big toolkit that will provide the mod makers with all necessary tools to create mods from the smallest ones, to like, big total conversions [of the game]” – which sounds ideal for Xbox players.
This news perhaps shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. Back in the summer, shortly after its shadow drop, Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy got console mod support too, so it’s clearly a service that GSC Game World wants to provide. We should be able to test out the feature once Stalker 2 is in the hands of Xbox Game Pass players on November 20th – although mod support is likely to land sometime after launch.
