Mass Effect Lead Says Next Game Will Retain The 'Mature Tone' Of EA's Original Trilogy

BioWare is about to ship its first original game in a good while here with Dragon Age: The Veilguard – a title we happen to like a lot here at Pure Xbox. However, naturally, folks are now beginning to wonder about the next Mass Effect game coming from the EA developer – and the project’s director has a small update on the title and its direction.

Taking to social media in the wake of some Dragon Age: The Veilguard reviews dropping, BioWare’s Michael Gamble has given us a small update on the next Mass Effect game. Here’s what he had to say on the project:

“Lots of people asking me about Mass Effect now that Veilguard reviews are out, and Oct 31 is close.

Both are from the studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. How you bring a Sci Fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs…and has to have different kinds of love.

Regarding tone questions: Mass Effect will maintain the mature tone of the original Trilogy. This is all I’m gonna say for now.”

Given the lukewarm reception to Mass Effect: Andromeda, and the general love for the series’ original three games, this will no doubt be music to the ears of any big Mass Effect fan. As Gamble goes on to say, this is all we’re going to get for now – but it’s an update nonetheless, and a welcome one at that.

The last major update we got for this game was almost a year ago, when BioWare dropped a brief teaser trailer for the future of Mass Effect during ‘N7 Day’ 2023. We’re just over a week away from that day in 2024, so maybe we might see another update from BioWare then, on what’s coming next. Here’s hoping!
