GTA 6 Publisher 'Not Really Worried' About Bringing The Game To Xbox Series S

In a recent earnings call over at Rockstar Games owner 2K, the company’s CEO was asked about GTA 6 running on Xbox Series S – and the response should instil come confidence in Series S owners.

In short, CEO Strauss Zelnick says that the team are used to developing for lower spec hardware, and that he’s “not really worried” about getting the gigantic game running on Microsoft’s Xbox Series S console.

Here’s what Zelnick had to say in response to a question about GTA 6 on Xbox Series S:

“Look, we support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech. Our labels are really good at that. I’m not really worried.”

“I’ve never worried about where hardware was going. And I’ve said this many times over the years because, first of all, I don’t worry about things over which I have zero control. And secondly because I do believe in the audience. The audience is going to show up if you have great properties, and so we just have to make sure to be on an array of platforms.”

Given how ambitious the next Grand Theft Auto game sounds, and looks in early footage, this is good to hear. We know that Rockstar is finally ditching Xbox One and PS4 here, so we’re hoping for rock-solid performance on both Xbox Series X and S.

Earlier today, we also covered 2K’s updated Xbox roadmap, with GTA 6 still firmly planned for a Fall 2025 release. As long as it hits that date, we expect these two Xbox consoles to be the main Microsoft platforms – but who knows what could be on the market if 2K delays the game further. Come on, Rockstar, we’re all eagerly awaiting GTA 6 on Xbox!
